Pressure
Updated: Jan 26, 2022
Pressure comes in many different forms throughout life. Pressure from work, school, family, church, relationships, even pressure from within yourself. It all can be an heavy load, but God said in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and burden is light.” I myself have needed this reminder! I recently was in prayer, when I felt such a heavy cry from having so much pressure on myself. Pressure about wanting more for myself, pressure of trying to be better than I was before. God constantly reminds me that I am not perfect, and I shouldn't stress myself out when things don't go the way they should. God controls all things! You should be relieved that God wants to take all the stress and pressure from you!
Granted it's hard not to be in control, we always want to know the how's, when's, what's and who's. But once you come into God, you have to learn to give all that up. Giving your life up for God means that your desires may not be what God wants for you. Why dig yourself into that pressure when God is now in control? If God has called you into something then know God has qualified you to do that very thing. He knows you are fully equipped to handle all that He gives you. He is not going to allow you to walk alone, he can take your heavy load and make them light. Upon all the pressure and stress, he gives one of His greatest gifts- PEACE. Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
So when you do start to feel that pressure, simply give it to Jesus, he can calm your mind.
Pray: “God I am starting to feel overwhelmed by the pressure of …….. Lord, I give it to you right now. Take away the anxious feeling of needing to have it altogether. You said in your word to cast every care upon you, so I release it to you. Give me the peace that only you can bring, and remind me not to worry or feel pressured about anything, for my life is in your hands. In Jesus name, Amen.
