Healing

When you hear the word healing, what comes to your mind? A lot of people associate healing with sickness, but healing comes in all forms, shapes or sizes. Healing can be emotionally, spiritually, mentally, financially-anyway that you need to improve. The definition of healing is the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again Google. So, however healthy would look like for you, healing can take place.

Jesus as an healer is just one of the many great attributes that make up who He is. As a matter of fact, that was the greatest task he accomplished. By Jesus dying on the cross, he healed us from a life of sin. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭24‬). We are healed from bondage and the things of this world. He died so we wouldn’t have to experience that anymore, but instead an abundant life eternally.

As we go through life, we may get into situations that we are going to need an extra amount of healing from. With God we don’t have to dwell on the pain of the past, because he blots all of those things out. If He removed you or brought you out of a situation, then it is our job to stay out of it. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John‬ ‭5‬:‭14). We activate the healing power of Christ in us so we can continue to move forward and not go backwards. If transformation has taken place, we should do whatever it takes to keep those changes in place- especially if the change is for the better.

I have experienced healing mentally, emotionally, physically and even financially in different areas of my life. With that I can reflect on those situations and remind myself that if God did it then, then He can do it again. I can still admit that I am going through a healing process - but in my process I am able to see how God is still proving. He is showing me that He fulfills His promises. Whether the healing is aimed at me or for someone I prayed for, it is an act of Him moving. Even when I can’t see it all at once, just the feeling He gives my spirit of encouragement, comfort, reassurance and love shows that I am being healed. This is why studying scripture is so important. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night (Psalm‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬).‭ Not only will it fill you mentally, emotionally and spiritually, it proves how God has been a refuge and provider for so many people in so many different situations.

Faith and healing go hand in hand. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬). For example in Matthew 9-the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years. She displayed faith in verse 21, for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be made whole. She didn’t say, “If only he would lay his hands on me” but just the mere thought of her just touching the edge of his garment, she believed she could get her relief. Immediately Jesus said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. That shows how faith and healing come together. Have faith that you will be healed and it will be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive (Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭22‬). Also according to scripture, we know that sometimes it doesn’t even take a physical touch for your healing.  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you”(‭‭Matthew‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬). Just like the woman, it’s the mere thought of what God can do for you. A mustard seed is reported to be 1-2 millimeters in diameter - so just think about how small that is! To have just that little ounce of faith, God can provide a massive healing. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬).

Praise and healing go hand in hand also. Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise (Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭14‬). For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands (Psalm‬ ‭92‬:‭4‬). Not only should we praise Him after our healing, but before as well. We praise Him simply because we know that He can heal , we praise Him for who He is. He inhabits the praises of His people! Whenever I praise God before I see my answered prayer, it uplifts me to keep moving forward and it takes my mind off what I’m going though.

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Sometimes you gotta act like you are already walking in what you are hoping to receive. Praise Him like you’re in good health, driving the car, at that job, in that relationship, financially stable, joyful, in peace, etc. Walk like the child of God that you are because we have already been healed since the beginning!

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life (John‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬).

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬).
